A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

My name is Robyn Janssen, and I'm a professional dog walker and pet sitter. Let me tell you, it's the BEST JOB I HAVE EVER HAD!

My cat, Fitch and my dog, Taylor were the catalysts for Mutts About You, and I learned so much from them throughout their lives.  As with many of my clients, Taylor was my "child", so I was very invested in her behavior, training and anyone that would walk or watch her overnight.  I truly do understand when first-time clients tell me they are nervous to leave their dog with a stranger.  I was too.

I had Fitch for 18 years and Taylor for 11.  Now that the're both gone,  I take all of the love I have for them, and I give it to the dogs & cats I see everyday.

Even though I have a degree in Business Education, I spent the first part of my career, in corporate America, working mostly in sales/marketing,  and event planning.  During this time I actually had a dog walker, for Taylor, because I commuted over an hour for work, and I volunteered at a Monmouth County shelter as a Dog Walker & Cat Socializer. This was my first experience with handling many dogs and/or cats at the same time, and it was also where I loved spending time

Over time, I found myself wanting to climb the corporate ladder less and wanting to work with animals more.  It really turned out to be a natural transition in that I was already helping friends and neighbors, with their pets, and I was beginning to be a go-to person for pet questions.  At that point, I knew that I wanted to start a dog-walking business, and not long after, Mutts About You was born! As I got more experience, while working for a larger  pet service business, I learned that there was also a need for in-home pet sitting as well as walking.  Some dogs thrive in group settings, but some really struggle, and they could truly benefit from someone staying in THEIR home. I like to think that I'm a great alternative, to larger boarding facilities, when you have an anxious, older or special-needs pet.

There are lots of choices, when it comes to finding a dog walker or sitter, so take your time, and trust your gut.  I believe in transparency, so you will know when I'm with your dog, EVERY TIME, and you will know what happens at each of our visits.  You will get lots of pictures and real time information as much as possible.  I am also 100% positive reinforcement, so I prefer not to work with prong or shock collars, because I believe behaviors can be taught in other ways.

I am fully insured & bonded through Pet Sitters International, and I am Red Cross trained in cat & dog CPR.  I also support a few local animal rescues.

It's nice to have another set of eyes watching out for your pet.  I'm so happy to be that person.
